PHOTOCOPA

There are many tools to create a palette: the Basic Palette editor (no widths click to go there), COPASO and PHOTOCOPA
PHOTOCOPA is a tool to make palettes from images, like COPASO and unlike the basic editor, you can add widths.
You can only have picked colours, you can't manually edit them.

PHOTOCOPA BASICS

To go to PHOTOCOPA
Im the above menu click 'tools > PHOTOCOPA

Adding an image to PHOTOCOPA:
To upload an image to photocopa:
> Images must be hosted online
If it's in your computer, use an photo hosting service like flicre, photobucket.. (it's only temporary, once uploaded to phocopa - CL makes a copy - so you can delete the other one on the hosting service)

I noticed Photocopa has some problems to upload pics from tinypic.com

> Images must be at least 256 x 256 pixels

Careful: All images you add are public, anybody can use them + You can not delete images

How to open an existing photocopa image in PHOTOCOPA

We can share images in photocopa

If you see an image you like check out it's ID in the URL

example for the right pic:
the URL is

http://www.colourlovers.com/photocopa/113818/Unnamed_Photo

the pic ID is 113818

Now if you want to load it in photocopa, just add
l/i/ (Lima -slash- India -slash )
in front of the ID number (+ [ENTER] to validate) :

In short:
Photo page:
http://www.colourlovers.com/photocopa/113818/Unnamed_Photo

Same pic in PHOTOCOPA:

EDIT A PALETTE CREATED WITH PHOTOCOPA

There are 2 ways to edit photocopa palettes:

1) The easiest is the use the 'Edit this palette' button by the palette.
2) Open Photocopa and choose 'Open', you'll see a repository of all the palettes you have saved (but not necessarily published) - this is similar to editing with COPASO

I figured out how to fave a photo from Photocopa even if there is no palette made from it. (This is for a Mac. I can't remember the PC equivalent.) When you are in Photocopa, take the usual steps to getting the photo into the color picker. Once the picture is up, control-click on the photo. Pick "view background image". Some of the image will display, and the address for the new window will look something like this:

http://static.colourlovers.com/images/photocopa/12/120/120428/1/1_0.jpg

The third set of numbers, here shown as 120428, is the photo #. Now go back to Photocopa, and in the address bar, put a forward slash and the photo #. Here is an example:

http://www.colourlovers.com/photocopa/120428

The photo's page will display and you can fave it so you can find it again.

If control-click does not work, you can go to Tools>Page Info. Under "Media", about 11 addresses down in the window, is the address with the photo number.

In Chrome, use right-click 'Inspect this'

i figured that out one day when I found a lover (can't remember who) who faved a bunch of pictures with no palettes added to them. it said, "This photo has no palettes. go create one." And I clicked it and it went to photocopia with l/i/the ID and i was so excited i figured it out myself i was just about to go tell the people in the forums but you had already figured it out and posted it here. great! I'm glad. we should try to get the word around more because I know a lot of people would really like to know how to do that. I know that I've been dying to because i hated uploading the picture again and not having my palette added with the others on the original.
ha ha.. You're like me, when you discover something you immediately want to share it! ;)
If you look at that comment - it was posted in June - so it's not so long I discovered it myself!

... btw, if you discover something, or think something is missing, you are very welcome to post on these pages! I post things I think might be useful... I don't know what, but I'm quit sure there's many things missing!

Btw - I should slowly remove all the 'you can not delete palettes & patterns' ...
