Check the HTML code for badges

Here's a link. http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/390342/Find_The_Passion
I posted several palette badges and noticed that there was a stagger that I could not get rid of. In dark gray on the darker gray background in front of the 2nd and following badges is the text "Color by COLOURlover". There is an extra /SPAN in angle brackets at the end of each badge that I hadn't recalled seeing before the last week or two. Is that messing things up? They used to end with the standard /A in angle brackets. When posting the same badge set on a profile page, I do not see the extra text and stagger. http://www.colourlovers.com/lover/shore#comments ![]() ![]() ![]() ThePerfec… ThePerfectOnion wrote: 28 May, 2008
I've experienced the same thing, both in two new palettes that I just posted on my bio, and in one palette that I've had posted on my bio for days. Not a serious issue, but it screws up my bio layout. : / ![]()

I get that you want to add links to the site but I'm with retsof on this. The span tags make it impossible to post two badges side by side because it looks funky. Could they be another way of coding this? (I know I just have to delete the code starting from the line-break; I'm just asking). ![]() ![]() ![]() PureForm PureForm wrote: 29 May, 2008
CL will filter out the span tags and leave only the badge and the link to the palette / pattern / color. The HTML is perfectly valid, a tags, span tags, img tags are all inline elements, and will always try to display on the same horizontal plane [roughly].
But no need to worry, if you drop the badge codes into CL we'll clean them up for you. ![]() ![]() ![]() COLOURlov… COLOURlover wrote: 29 May, 2008
We wanted to make sure our links got out there on badges being posted elsewhere on the net, so we added the tag to the bottom of the badge code...
We knew though that there would be a ridiculous amount of those tag lines posted on our site as badges are linked in comments, profiles, etc... So we added in the functionality to auto remove that line here on COLOURlovers, so when you grab the badge code and post it in a comment, we scrub out the tag line for you. ![]() ![]() ![]() onebreath onebreath wrote: 29 May, 2008

But this doesn't work in profiles, right? Or just not yet? (I tested this yesterday. My apologies if there have been changes since then). ![]() ![]() ![]() retsof retsof wrote: 29 May, 2008
That must be what's going on. A posted badge looks like a broken graphic, but a refresh does the scrubbing. ![]() ![]() ![]() eighthmus… eighthmuse wrote: 29 May, 2008
I noticed that too, and that in profiles the extra links to CL weren't removed, but I'm guessing it's done now.
Since I mostly post these palette-y badges around here, it doesn't bother me too much. ^^ It'd always be nice to get more people in the community! (Which is one of the best things about the site, really.) ![]() ![]() |
