I'm starting an assignment for university this week, I need to create a magazine from scratch. Its going to be a travel magazine aimed at 18 - 29 year olds who want something extra out of their travel.
want to create something that is different to the very many boring travel magazines out there and I think starting with a unique and interesting colour scheme will get me well on my way. Basically I am just looking for any suggestions that people think might work. Just something fun, interesting and might be workable for a small 20 page magazine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :-) ![]() ![]() GrannyAnn… GrannyAnny wrote: 2 Months Ago

Two things popped to mind. "GEO" was a gorgeous magazine with a consistent thick kelly greenish border and the name and format for the cover always the same. Not unlike NG in some ways but the photography in the middle of the cover was always frameable quality. It aimed to a high end market.
Friends ran a firm called Trip N Travel in the 70s and did really well until they got greedy. They had a design firm that did a wonderful little magazine to promote the travel agency. They used lots of post hippy era colors and clever airbrushed illustrations. I think what made it work was the casual nature of the page layouts and the use of traveling colors like blue denim, backpack green, etc. Not surprisingly early Banana Republic catalogs, also born in the Bay Area had a similar look then. Wow. How things change. I would think about adventure travel in the sense of off the beaten path for your colors. Go with some nice neutral creamy stock or backgrounds. Make the covers memorable. ![]() ![]() ![]() lizcrimso… lizcrimson wrote: 2 Months Ago
